During my final year at film school, I was lucky enough to work with four remarkable crews in developing and successfully releasing two experimental projects and two graduation projects.

Project: Felix
The director and writer, Luvuyo Nyawose, wrote, “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced,” Soren Kierkegaard. From an early age, we are asked, ‘what do you want to be when you grow up?’ in a society filled with expectations. This leaves little room for an exploration or true self-identity. We end up in positions we didn’t choose. Do we ever really have a choice? Do these traditions, expectations and societal norms form us without us knowing? Do we ever have any agency or is this all a game where the decisions have already been made, and are we simply playing along?”
Synopsis
Following a late night of partying, Felix, accidentally runs over a boy. Panicked he leaves the boy to die and drives away. Overtime the guilt from his decision haunts him. The narrative unfolds through a game show- What would you do? which explores the options Felix has in dealing with the guilt.
My role
As the producer on this student film project, my responsibilities included securing crew and cast, locations, budgets and sponsors. Scheduling pre-production, production shoot days and pick-ups as well as the full post-production schedule and flow including marketing and release schedules at our film festival. A mammoth task.
Our crew worked tirelessly for several months as our draft script went through several adaptations.
Darling You’re Mine
My role in this student project that has over 12 million views was 1st Assistant Director and I assisted the production in securing locations and cast.
This project is directed and written by Vilde Eide “Set in USA in the 1950s, Marleen Milligan comes from a family that values women to become perfect housewives, but Marleen is set on making a career as an actress. She is given the opportunity of a lifetime when landing the lead role in a feature film with an American production company that is traveling to Africa to shoot. The path of fulfilling her dream is challenged when the director of the film, a 60- year old male, is slowly pushing her limits by sexually abusing her and manipulates her into an unprofessional relationship.”
